Migration guide

Moving your signing to SignSecure

Moving your signing to SignSecure is a checklist rather than a project. Rebuild your templates and field placements, bring your executed documents across for retention, run a quarter in parallel while the team gets comfortable, install the Salesforce package, and settle into an invoice that counts seats and nothing else.

Moving your signing to SignSecure: the template checklist

What the product covers end to end

Bring the executed documents with you

Finished agreements are records, and records need a home for years. Export them once, keep them whole, and put them somewhere your team already looks.

  • Export the sealed PDFsTake the executed file for every agreement you are required to keep.
  • Take the certificates tooCompletion evidence should travel with the agreement it belongs to, not separately.
  • Keep a consistent nameAgreement name, counterparty and completion date makes the archive searchable later.
  • Attach to the matching recordDrop each one onto its Account, Contract or Opportunity so history sits with the customer.
  • Set your retention periodApply your own policy inside your org, where your rules already govern files.
  • Seals keep validatingA sealed PDF proves itself in any reader, so an archived agreement stays evidence.

One parallel quarter, then the package goes live

Nobody should move everything on a Monday. Give yourself a quarter with both routes open, and use the Salesforce install sequence below so production only ever sees a tested configuration.

Weeks 1 to 4

Run one team on SignSecure

Pick a team with a high volume, repeatable document, usually NDAs or order forms. Everything else carries on exactly as it does today. By week four that team has a real opinion, and you have templates that are proven on live agreements.

Pilot team Everyone else
Weeks 5 to 9

Install the package properly

Install into a sandbox first, assign the permission sets, add the send button to the page layouts, map merge fields and write-back fields, and send test documents end to end. Then install to production and switch it on for the pilot team.

Sandbox install Map and test fields, layouts Production
Weeks 10 to 13

Open it to everyone

Add the remaining teams a group at a time, using the templates the pilot already proved. Keep your archive read only for as long as your retention policy asks, and let new agreements start life in SignSecure.
